Make a Move & Other Poems

by Aman Chougle

From unconfessed love to falling in love with someone’s nose, this universal emotion has many dimensions. Aman Chougle captures some of these through his poems under the theme ‘Love & Friendship’.

Make a move

If you like me,
why don’t you just tell me?

You want me to be straightforward,
but all you do is play a game of signs.

‘Oh! But I’m a girl,’ you say, ‘how can I
ask the question?’

Of course you can, those who say
you should not, are dead.
I kill them every day with my eyes.

So the next time we sit next to each other,
stop glancing at me from the corner
of your eye, and just say something!
It doesn’t matter whether it’s weird
or not funny, it’s still better than handling
this pressure alone, which the both of us
should be sharing.

By the rooftop light

During the day
the sun was too bright.
But during the night you’re my
right amount of sunshine.

To cuddly-nose

I think I’ve fallen in love
with someone’s nose.

It was funny to me
how unexpected it was.

Brave enough to give into it
I’ve already asked the question.

Now let’s see
what’s the response?

Aman Chougle works for Ascent Designs. His hobbies mostly have to do with the arts: be it writing, making movies, messing around with media software, or playing the guitar. He has published his short stories and poems in various internet and print journals (E-fiction, Indian Review and Reading Hour to name a few). He loves to travel, and try out every new thing possible as long as it’s not crass or destructive. Aman is also working on his first collection of poems.
