Moonlight Sonnet

by Nida

There are no rules about love or lust and no paths that define what should happen or when should it happen. Nida writes a poem on an affair of the heart.

He looked gleamingly at my braided plait-
Gulping vodka shot quickly to confess
That his marriage was in a rueful state;
A gentleman; he did not need the mess.
I but an inamorata of his friend
And obsessed to seek my beau’s attention;
He was conversing to make the ends bend,
But I heard a different dimension.
Maybe I was drunk and he cut the line-
Dancing with the cupid under moonlight;
Looking at him through a half glass of wine,
I slept on his arm in his room that night.
This is no weakness and there is no law-
Name a man untainted: without a flaw?
