Dreams

by Latha Prem Sakhya

[box]For Latha Prem Sakhya, her dreams are about elves or goblins.  The sleeping mind is the stage for dreams, she says. Latha lends a poetic touch to the June 2010 theme, ‘Dreams Unlimited’.[/box] [box type = “info”]MONTH: June 2010

THEME: DREAMS UNLIMITED

CONCEPT: Dreams—they are a part and parcel of our lives. The biggest achievers, history has shown time and again, are those who dared to dream. This issue we asked people to dream—without any barriers.

FEATURED WRITERS OF JUNE 2010:

Rashmi Bansal, Author of ‘Stay Hungry Stay Foolish’ and ‘Connect the Dots’.

Margareta Astaman,Indonesian Author.

Colourful dreams and inspiring stories—this is one issue that really made us feel as though we have taken off the ground and are floating in the air! That’s what dreams do to you, don’t they? While the dreamy interpretations held us enthralled, the inspiring stories interpreting the theme for  ‘aspiration’ showed us that it is so important to dare to dream—and when you do, to borrow Paulo Coelho’s thoughts, the Universe will conspire to make it come true for you! Dreams – elves or goblins

Jauntily, stealthily, pervading

Mind’s subconscious bowers

To lay siege to the sleeping mind –

A stage for dreams,

Enacted by elves and goblins,

Depending on the themes chosen

To unravel life’s mysteries.

Comedy, romance, tragicomedy,

Revenge, horror and realistic dreams –

A rich repertoire! All staged

Without prior notice.

The lone spectator – the conscious mind

Sits agape as elves or goblins take the stage.

Elves soothe, wafting the spectator to havens

Of happy interludes, luck and prosperity.

And the prancing goblins

Representing themes of horror

Rock the human body

Sending tremors of trepidations

Or suffocating the dreamer

To emerge struggling for breath

As if forcibly ducked in fathomless water

Reducing them to shivering  jelly.

For me, dreams are elves

With occasional goblins sneaking through

Guiding me, leading me to realms strange

Beyond ordinary ken; to revel

In happiness, a light from the inner spirit

Aiding me to pick my way through paths

Un-trodden, filled with thorns and jagged stones

To reach my destination intact.
