Spark’s April 2018 Issue: Our 100th!

Dear reader,

It is with absolute joy and thrill that we present to you our hundredth issue! We cannot believe that our small dream from 2009 is today an eight-year-old magazine that has published 100 issues, bringing you eclectic fiction, non-fiction and poetry on a new theme on the 5th of every month.

Through this milestone issue, we are celebrating the platform that we hope Spark has provided to hundreds of writers to explore their creativity. And so, it is themed #MyWordsMyVoice. We invited 15 writers from different age groups and diverse professional backgrounds – and Spark contributors – to share their voice and their words for this special issue. We also have an interview with Shreya Ila Anasuya, the Managing Editor of Skin Stories, a platform that features writing at the intersection of gender, disability and sexuality. This issue strives to highlight the power of creative writing and the role that creative writers play in today’s world. It demonstrates that creative writers are instrumental in giving voice to different topics: they can tell the world about stories/ideas that often go unheard or unnoticed or simply don’t find space, or they can simply create a work of art that can help a reader experience the joy of escaping into a world built through words.

We hope you find this issue as delightful as we did while putting it together. We look forward to your feedback, and are deeply grateful for your time and encouragement all these years. Thank you, dear reader!

~ Anupama and Vani
